Liguria - Italian Villa Vacations
Liguria
Liguria
Famous for its pesto, white truffles, hazelnuts and cheese, this little strip of the Mediterranean which arcs from Tuscany to the French border is an exciting and interesting holiday destination.
From its stone villages, beautiful beaches and harbours, to Mont Blanc this region certainly has plenty to see.
Holidaymakers in Genoa, the Cinque Terre, Rapallo and Portofino will find a fascinating mix of cultures, interesting landscape and wonderful food. Italian Villa vacations have some stunning rentals in all of these wonderful locations. To browse these properties please see our coastal collection.
When visiting Liguria there is plenty to see and do;
1 – Take a holiday rental along the coast and base yourself there for a week.
2 – Spend a day exploring the capital city of Genoa – some attractions include Piazza de Ferrari, cattedrale di san Lorenzo, chiesa del Gesu, musei di strada Nuova, the old city which is the heart of medieval Genoa, and the historic port.
3 – Explore the picturesque Cinque Terre (5 lands) which is a handful of charming villages dotted along the rugged coastline between La Spezia and Levento. Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore were originally fishing villages, but have since turned to producing some rather good white wines. You can walk between the 5 villages enjoying the breathtaking views.
4 – Visit Rapallos palm fringed beaches and colourful lively market when it fills piazza Cile every Thursday.
5 - Rent a scooter in San Remo (which has the most scooters per capita than anywhere else in Italy) and drive it along the coast and into the hinterland.
6 – Go and wine and dine in one of Portofino’s fashionable and fancy seafood restaurants - another resort with that Riviera touch. Portofino has long been fashionable with what we once called 'the jet set'.
Over the years Portofino has became a favourite with, Princess Grace, Richard Burton and Liz Taylor. Set within an area of stunning natural beauty, the protected Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino, the town today really is a chic berth for the yachts of the rich and famous.
Italian Villa vacations offers an incredible villa (called Portofino) set up over the water and embedded into the rocks just a 10 minute walk from Portofino. We highly recommend this property.

Portofino
The Portofino area is ideal for relaxing, hiking, doing water sports, and taking day trips to other areas of the Riviera or to Cinqueterre. Santa Margherita is 4 km away, Genoa is 30 minutes by highway, Florence 3 hours, Rome is 5 hours south and Milan is 2 hours north, and Cinqueterre is a perfect day trip including the train back and forth and walking from one village to the next.

Rapallo
Rapallo is on the Italian Riviera in the Liguria region of northwest Italy. Rapallo makes a good base for visiting the rest of the Italian Riviera as it's well connected by public transport. It's in the Tigullio Gulf between Genoa and the popular Cinque Terre. Italian Villa vacations offers a very chic apartment for rent in Rapallo called Rivieria. Our Riviera apartment is the perfec
