Whilst spending a week at Torre Fantini in Tredozio we are thrilled to offer the very interesting and comprehensive package of Emilia Romagna
BOLOGNA – 1 day – lunch at a typical restaurant. The ancient capital of Emilia Romagna, home to the first university in Europe (1088), is a lively and elegant city with unique features. Its porticoes, proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021, are the longest in the world: 38 km in the historic center alone. We recommend a walk among shops, tasting points, bars, and typical restaurants. Many monuments to visit include Neptune’s Fountain, the majestic Piazza Maggiore with the most important buildings of medieval Bologna, and the Basilica of San Petronio, as well as the two towers – “degli Asinelli” and “della Garisenda” – symbols of the city. The cuisine, which has always had a strong tradition in the lives of the people of Bologna, has earned it the title of “food city”.
MODENA – 1 day – lunch at a typical restaurant in Modena, UNESCO also identified sites of extraordinary historical and cultural interest in 1997: the Cathedral – a masterpiece of Romanesque style – the Ghirlandina Tower (12th/14th century), and Piazza Grande (12th century). With a remarkable leap in time, modern visitors find places of great interest here. The city is home to the Ferrari Museum and the Maserati Museum, complemented by the Ferrari Museum in Maranello and the Lamborghini Museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese: in just a few kilometers, enthusiasts can visit the places related to famous engines and factories. Modena, in its Civic Museum, houses the Giuseppe Graziosi Plaster Cast Gallery, an internationally renowned artist, maternal grandfather of Countess Maria Teresa Vespignani Boselli (owner of Villa La Collina). In addition to the important collection of plastic, pictorial, and graphic works by Graziosi, a pleasant walk through the historic center also allows visitors to admire his bronze sculptures adorning five city fountains.
RAVENNA – 1 day – lunch at a typical restaurant. World-famous for its paleo Christian monuments from the 5th-8th centuries and the Byzantine mosaics that adorn them, Ravenna is an unmissable stop for visitors to these places. Mentioning Galla Placidia’s Mausoleum, the Church of San Vitale – one of the finest examples of Byzantine art in Western Europe – the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo, the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare in Classe, the Mausoleum of Theodoric, the Arian Baptistry, the Neon Baptistry, and the Chapel of Saint Andrew. With eight monuments declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Ravenna has been recognized as a city of exceptional value, a universal treasure. Only here can one admire the “supreme artistic mastery of mosaic art”, as stated in the motivation.
ZERBINA WINERIES – afternoon interesting visit to one of the main wineries in Marzeno, a few kilometers from Tredozio. Tasting of Romagna wines and small aperitif.
BRISIGHELLA and VILLA EMALDI – 1 day – lunch at a typical restaurant in Brisighella. Beautiful medieval village at the foot of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines. It is a must-see tourist destination, a journey through enchanted territories with breathtaking and uniquely shaped landscapes, such as the Calanchi of Monte Carla. After lunch, transfer to Villa Emaldi in Faenza. The hostess, Countess Antonietta, a talented internationally renowned ceramist, opens her workshop for a guided tour of her creations. Small Aperitif.
