With its rolling hills, deeply coloured patchwork of fields and ancient stone towns, Umbria is a region where locals still live at a leisurely pace. Our specially curated program means you will experience the best of its history, art, food, wine and natural beauty. You will stay in the luxurious Villa Bellissima near Orvieto and explore the surrounding villages and towns. We will take you to outstanding restaurants and private wine tastings at vineyards not usually available to tourists.

Every day will make you smile, wonder, and embrace la dolce vita.

Dates – September 7th – 14th, 2024

Duration – seven nights
Group Size – Min 6, max 12 plus two guides

Note – This tour can run all year round for formed groups of 6 or 12 people. Weeks run from Saturday – Saturday. Pick up will remain in Rome.

Saturday:

You will be collected from a central Rome location in private transportation and driven to Ficulle for lunch in a family run trattoria. Then on to Villa Bellissima, your home away from home, to settle in and admire the view. Shopping and visiting the hamlet of Ficulle in the afternoon. Dinner at the Villa.

Sunday:

A really special day trip to Orvieto with lunch in magnificent ancient Grottos. You will visit an archaeological dig that is closed to the general public. Here your guide and the local head of archaeology will take you on a tour of 3,500 years of history, explaining the varied and storied history of Orvieto.

Monday:

A guided trip to Assisi, home of St Francis, with lunch in the main town square.
Dinner at the Villa

Tuesday:

A visit to the famous wine town of Montepulciano with a wine tasting and lunch in the main square. On to Montalcino winery famous for its musical performance in the vineyard and an optional stop at Bagno Vignoni (natural hot springs). This special day will include dinner at the villa.

Wednesday:

A day in Siena with free time to savour the exquisite beauty of this Renaissance town, lunch in the Piazza Del Campo and to finish – a tour of the incomparable Duomo di Siena.
Dinner at the villa.

Thursday:

A visit to Cortona, home of Under the Tuscan Sun with a Michelin tasting lunch. Not normally open for lunch, but we know the owners! A visit to the remarkable Etruscan Tombs. Light dinner at the Villa to round off a sensational day.

Friday:

A visit to Bolsena to see the sacred location where the miracle of the Eucharist happened, along with visiting the ancient Christian Catacombs. Followed by a lunch over the water on Lake Bolsena. During the summer months a swim can also be an option.
Woodfired Pizza dinner at the Villa, prepared by our wonderful staff. This is a fantastic way to end our week.

Saturday:

Check out of the Villa. Transfer to Rome included. Transfers to other destinations on request.

Your Villa

Villa Bellissima is a 500-year-old, newly restored farmhouse set on a hill in a picturesque valley halfway between Rome and Florence. It offers the ultimate rural setting, with modern amenities and a central location.

With beautiful views, an infinity pool with jacuzzi, full gym, wine cellar and high-speed internet the air-conditioned house has six bedrooms, each with a fireplace and en-suite bathroom. There is a large covered patio for dining al fresco and a beautiful, sheltered courtyard with views, a vine covered outdoor wood fired pizza oven, two seating areas surrounding a Bocce court, as well as a covered porch upstairs. Guests are welcome to enjoy the vegetable and herb garden and to use the laundry.
